Least Bang for the BuckTo continue on my previous theme, my contention is that politicians, government officials and bureaucrats are generally lazy, like most people. Therefore unless they are forced to work, they would try to avoid it, and instead make the public suffer by negotiating the maze of "red tape". Also, those who are elected or put into positions of power would attempt by all means to acquire as much wealth as possible (by legal means or foul if they could get away with it), and in addition to doing as little work as possible, these people would attempt to retain their hold on power for as long as they can.
Enjoyment and luxury at the expense of the common public appears to be one of the main goals of such people. To see what I mean just look at how Royalty (in those countries which still have them), Dictators, Presidents, Ministers and various government officials and "civil servants" conduct themselves and live their lives day-to-day. I think that many would agree with me that their usefulness and compensation does not match the work that they perform.
The general public should instead, play the role of the "employers" while all the other people that I have mentioned above should really be the "civil servants" that they sometimes claim to be, and provide the service and hard work that they are paid to do, and at the same wages as everybody else. Since we all know that government officials do not really do much work, they should be paid according to the effort that they put in and the results that they actually achieve.
We should therefore attempt to get the "most bang for the buck" instead of the opposite, as is most likely the case in these situations! Indeed, why have 3 guys doing the same job when only one is sufficient? Job cuts, retrenchments and RIFs should also apply to the government and their many departments and not only to the private sector employees.
