Here's my first posting ever, to "My Blog".

Did not know that there was such a website available, and had found it by accident. Therefore I am giving it a try since the concept seems really interesting to me, including the ability to have team members. Just another means to have better and to also have different ways to communicate, especially across time-zones and when travelling.

Now everyone can easily publish on the web, and enable easy sharing of ideas and information without boundaries.

Happy bloggering!!

The Wimbledon 2003 tennis competition has started today, and it will be another 2 weeks of daily tennis until the final matches, 2 weekends from now.
The major upset on Day1 is that Hewitt (the 2002 champion and the number 1 seed) is out; having been defeated in the first round mens singles game.

Comments on the North-East Line (NEL)

I wonder if any heads will roll eventually in the LTA and the Transport Ministry for the way the NEL was planned and managed. The televised reply by one of the Cabinet Ministers (I assume it was the Transport Minister) to a question from a member of the public on the NEL fiasco was really pathetic.

For the government to endorse the new system's higher fares (due to supposedly high tech features and having driverless trains) and expected poorer service level compared to the existing MRT, shows that they are starting to lose touch with reality. It is similar to Marie Antoinette's famous words to the starving population, "let them eat cake", when told that they did not have enough bread. We all know what happened after that, during the French Revolution when they invented the guillotine.

After all, people only expect to have a train system that runs reliably and on time. If this can be achieved by technology alone, then that's fine. Having to pay higher fares for poorer service is a ridiculous proposition. Looks like the Transport Minister or the LTA management should be replaced for wasting taxpayer's money, not understanding technology and not ensuring that proper studies and comparisons were made before implementing an expensive new system that may not work as well as regular trains with drivers.

The NEL implementation is another instance of technology getting the blame for human stupidity.
