Are the million dollar ministers in the Singapore government performing well? - apparently not, based on recent results
Under the renowned PM Lee of Singapore and the holy trinity (you know, the father, the son and the holy Goh), the list of major Singapore Inc. flops and boo-boos has increased steadily in recent years. Wonder what the heck, the million dollar ministers are doing? Apparently they are not performing as well as promised. I suggest a pay-cut to reflect their bad performance and their poor results. Billions of tax payer dollars have been lost and/or are not properly accounted for.
The list of Singapore Inc. failures and big-time flops during the last couple of years as far as I can recall is :-
1. Suzhou Industrial Park investment losses - one of the Singapore government's first big overseas blunders
2. Singtel billion dollar losses in Australia telco Optus investment
3. Importing millions of foreigners into Singapore; displacing citizens from jobs and overloading the public transport services and increasing home rental prices
4. Concealing the true emigration rate of citizens fed up with the PAP government; probably in the hundreds of thousands in the past several years
5. Hiding the news of daily suicides of impoverished Singaporeans, those who have lost hope and of young children stressed out by the school system, methinks one of the highest in the world; at least one or two each day
6. Refusing to reveal the true unemployment figure of citizens, claiming that "it is a state secret"
7. Attempting to control and muzzle the internet and bloggers by the fascist Lee government, so far, unsuccessful
8. Shin Corp billion dollar investment losses by Temasek
9. NKF saga and coverups by the government, finally revealed (perhaps only partially)
10. The IMF meeting in Singapore causing major losses to Singapore retailers and not delivering the promised results of increased tourist dollars
11. The PM Lee's "mee siam mai hum" and "fixing the opposition" coverup episodes
12. Crazy Horse closing down after only one year in Singapore
13. John Hopkins clash with A*Star and pullout from Singapore
14. Increasing the GST from 5% to 7% when the majority of Singaporeans are not enjoying pay increases and not doing well economically; only the civil servants and the government are having astronomical pay increases
15. Although Singapore government ministers are already the highest paid in the world, they have decided to almost double their million dollar salaries against massive public protests, and refuse to acknowledge that they are overpaid
16. Not providing insurance for our NS men and adequate compensation for deaths during service to the nation, as revealed during the recent accident in Taiwan plane crash which killed 2 Singapore soldiers and injured many
17. Warwick University refusing to locate in Singapore due to lack of academic freedom
18. University of New South Wales announcing their decision to close their campus in Singapore only after 3 months of operation, and the Singapore government has as usual, decided not to reveal how much they have lost in this venture
Wonder what else would be next; perhaps failure of the recently announced F1 night race proposal next year and the impending flop of the IR/Casinos in Singapore? Come now PM Lee, all these things have happened during your watch. What is your government planning to do to salvage the situation, and what have you to say to redeem yourself?

Singapore's Money Faced Ministers have unilaterally increased their own salaries from S$1.2 to $1.6million per year immediately, and then to S$1.7million at the end of 2007, followed by S$1.9million at the end of 2008.
Actually this is just the starting salary for a first time government minister, as the PM currently gets paid S$3.1million per year, and his daddy the MM has admitted recently that his salary is S$2.7million. In addition, the SM is probably paid close to $3million as well. Therefore the holy trinity of the father, son and holy Goh (Singapore is the only country in the world with 3 PMs in active service, in the cabinet) is probably paid almost S$9million per year!!
The Singapore government went ahead and increased their pay, even as there were many protests from the majority of citizens who are against the raise due to obvious reasons that the government ministers are already overpaid.

I am underpaidPlease uncorrupt me by doubling my salary immediately.
Otherwise, you will suffer badly and perhaps the country will also be ruined.
Being paid $1.2 million a year is hardly enough for survival; it is almost minimum wage. Times are hard and I am badly underpaid!!
Oh, I forget, I also need a lifetime pension starting when I reach 55 years old.

My Grandfather's BacklaneI have created a new website today to commemorate my newly found Grandfather's Backlane at Upper Paya Lebar Rd, located behind a row of 11 shophouses, and next to a new condo (still under construction) called Tangerine Grove.
The website can be accessed from my Chia Family website at
http://www.geocities.com/chiafamily2 where the link is at the bottom of that webpage.
Alternatively, the URL for directly connecting to this site is

The Indonesian Haze is Back Again!!The haze is back again, and it is as bad as a couple years ago. Looks like the corruption and cronyism in Indonesia is preventing a permanent solution to this recurring problem.
The governments in this region are also powerless to do anything to put a stop to this annual inconvenience.

The NKF Saga part 2I wonder what NKF funds irregularities will be uncovered after the Singapore Police CAD investigations are finalized? Perhaps it would finally affect the solid support that Durex (Mrs Goh's personal peanut seller, who also apparently has a reputation for being a snake charmer to the ladies) has been receiving from Mrs Goh, Ho Ching and the Health Minister all along, even though they were aware of lots of the NKF goings on for some time. I hope that all those involved in swindling the public will get thrown into jail, and also things don't get covered up as usual by the government.
Mrs Goh still refuses to apologise for her "peanuts comment" even after the huge public uproar from the Singapore peasants.

The London Bombers are Back!Another series of blasts were reported in London today at 3 tube stations and on a bus, but due to defects in the bomb construction, only one person was injured slightly this time. Appears to be a followup of the first similar incident 2 weeks ago that killed more than 50 people.
I wonder why these people are so fond of blowing themselves up and also like to use explosives and incendiary devices. Maybe in future they will consider using biological and poison gas material when they become more sophisticated in their thinking?
I do not believe that it will be any time soon that the ideologies of these bombers will be easily changed or swayed. It must be due to frustration and hopelessness that makes these cowards kill themselves and together with innocent people. They should target the government officials and military targets instead, if their gripe is with the policies of that country's government.
The NKF saga
Now that things have more or less blown over and the Health Minister has "come to the rescue" by appointing a new Chairman after having Durex, the NKF board and Mrs "Marie Antoinette" Goh fired, I guess the only thing that needs to be said is :-
Where were all the politicians and ministers all these years, when everyone knew about all the excesses that Durex was up to all along? My feeling is that lots of people were either intimidated or seduced by Mrs Goh's $600K personal peanut seller. Also, the uproar and the sense of the mounting negative public reaction was finally too much to bear for the policitians, after all the revelations and admissions in court.
I wonder what the personal bathroom in the CEO's office was meant for? Also, would it not have been cheaper to rent cars when required, to ferry the movie stars around? The other question is why NKF was required to send their CEO overseas using first class air travel when it is a local charity? Durex should be made to pay for all his holidays and transportation using his own money, and just sell all the limos that they bought and put the money back to where it was intended - the kidney patients.
They should probably bankrupt and crucify Durex and not have any politicians or elite people (and their wives) have anything to do with the NKF unless they did it with a 10 foot pole from now on.

I just finished watching Nadal win the men's singles French Open tennis. Like his win against Federer in the semis, this was certainly a great and exciting game. A super achievement at age 19 for Nadal!
He is also us$1million richer after earning the prize money for this finals match and for beating his Argentinian opponent, Puerta by 3 sets to 1.
